The Dotson Family Quartet is an Alabama
based Gospel music quartet that tours the Southeast United States. Christine
Dotson is the lead singer and plays keyboard for the group. Archie Dotson,
who handles bookings for the group, is the tenor singer and plays guitar,
mandolin, bass guitar, and keyboards. Carol Hutto is our alto vocalist,
and William Lee is our bass singer that sometimes can also be found on
bass guitar. Glenda Lee is responsible for sales and Patty Mosley is a
bass guitar player.
The Dotson Brothers became The Dotson
Family when Archie and Christine interrupted a singing at Fieldstown Church
of God in Alabama to get married in 1961. The group continued to grow with
the addition of Archie and Christine's daughters, Chrysta and Alicia. When
the daughters left home for college and marriage, Carol Hutto joined the
group and has been a faithful member for over 20 years. With more recent
additions, Patty Mosley and William Lee, the Dotson Family Quartet continue
to praise Him with their unique style of Gospel music and song.
The Dotsons have been blessed to
present the Gospel of Jesus to congregations in Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia,
Tennessee, Illinois, Texas, Oklahoma, California and Florida. They have
sang with groups such Naomi and the Sego brothers, The Easter Brothers,
The Happy Goodmans, The Imperials, Squire Parsons, Clarence Jones and The
Florida Boys. You'll find the Dotsons on the road about 40 weekends a year.
There is no opportunity to share the love of Christ that is too small or
too big for The Dotson Family Quartet. Please pray for The Dotson Family
as they strive to do His will. Drop by and worship with them when they
are in a city near you!
Below, read up on the individual
biographies of The Dotson Family Quartet members:
Archie Dotson
Archie was
born March 8, 1940 to Garlon and Darthulia Dotson. He learned to
play guitar and other instruments with his brothers James and Houston as
a teenager. James went on to become a Southern Baptist minister and
missionary. Archie and Houston formed The Dotson Brothers and toured
the South singing Gospel Music. The Dotson Brothers were guest singers
at Brighton Church of God when Archie met a cute pianist named Christine
Hannah. It was love at first sight! Christine joined the group
and three months later, at Fieldstown Church of God, Archie and Christine
stopped the Singing and got married! They celebrated their 48th wedding
anniversary on May 13th, 2009!
Archie has
continued to bless others with his talents. He is an accomplished
instrumentalist on the mandolin, guitar, bass and sometimes piano.
His daughters say they have never met an instrument their dad couldn’t
play. Not only a talented musician, he is an anointed singer and song writer.
He has written hundreds of songs and holds copyrights to these works.
When asked
about the future, he says he met his wife at a singing, got married at
a singing and he expects he’ll die at a singing. I guess that would
be the way to go!
When not on
the road singing praises to our Lord, you’ll find Archie and Christine
Dotson at New Life Fellowship Baptist Church in Jasper, AL .
Christine
Dotson
Christine was
born on July 8th to Earl and Mary Hannah. She grew up watching her
dad play the organ at Friendship Baptist Church near Brookwood , AL .
God blessed her with the talent to first play the accordion then the piano.
She also plays guitar and bass guitar. In 1961 The Dotson Brothers
came to her church as guest singers. Archie Dotson met the love of
his life when he met the church pianist, Christine. Three months
later the couple stopped a singing at Fieldstown Church of God to have
their wedding ceremony. Since that time congregations everywhere
have witnessed her most obvious talent, singing praises to the Lord.
Christine and
Archie have two daughters, Chrysta and Alicia, who at one time sang in
the family’s group. They left the group to attend college and get
married. Archie and Christine are now “Nana” and “Papaw” to four
grandchildren.
Christine acts
as manager, seamstress, music critic for her husband’s songs, and an anointed
singer and musician in the group. When they are not on the road,
you’ll find Christine and Archie Dotson at New Life Fellowship Baptist
Church in Jasper, AL .
Chad
Lawrence
Chad Elliott
Lawrence was born October 11, 1982 to Mary Davis Lawrence and Johnny Lawrence
of Woodstock, Alabama. He was raised by his late grandparents, James
and Minnie Lee Davis. They loved him and he loved them dearly.
"My mom taught me to sing. She would not let me get discouraged" says Chad.
He started his own group, Joyous Harmony, with his mother and his brother,
Matthew Lawrence. He is married to Tracy Lawrence, for 10 years and
counting, and has one son, James "Bobo" Lee, named after his grandparents.
He has been in several different singing groups and loves to sing for the
Lord. Chad is a very special man and he knows that all his blessings
and talents come from God. He gives Jesus Christ, his saviour, glory
and honor for all things. He came to join the Dotson Family Quartet in
June 2011
Carol
Hutto
I was born
in Sylacauga, AL on November of 1948. It is a privilege and a blessing
to share with you about myself. I am a born again Christian, saved in October
1971 on a Thursday night at Hopewell Baptist Church in a revival meeting
in which Bro. Frank Taylor was the evangelist. I now am a member at Grant
Street Baptist Church where Bro. Johnny Lawrence is the pastor and his
wife Jane who is a great supporter of his.
I’m so thankful
to the Lord for my daughter, Tammy (Rob) Fournier and their children Kevin
and Shane, also my son Jeff (Michelle) and their children, Brittany, Joshua,
Coty and Charity. What a joy to be a mother and to say I’m a “Granna”
The song that
I love and is so memorable to me is I’d Rather Have Jesus because my precious
mother used to sang it and all of us six children joined in and helped
her on the chorus.
My scripture
verses are Proverbs 3:5-6. The name “Carol” means song of Joy. I believe
in my heart that singing is my calling. I have been singing alto with the
Dotson Family Quartet for approximately 23 years for the glory of God.
Please keep
the Dotson Family Quartet in your prayers and May God Bless You All.
Patty
Mosley

area. I have been married to Ray Mosley for 19 years. I have 2 children,
Jimmy and Brandon Williams, and 3 Grandchildren, Jaxon, Hannah and Mason.
God gave me the desire to play the bass guitar in 1996 and I have been
playing for the Lord ever since. I have been playing for the Dotson Family
Quartet for almost 14 years. I have enjoyed playing with the Dotson Family
and will cherish every mile we travel.
