| A charter member of the
Nebraska High School Sports Hall of Fame (1994), Fred led the 1962-63 Omaha
Tech basketball team to what many have said is one of the greatest high
school teams to ever take the court... setting several all-time records
along the way!
After being named the 1963
Nebraska High School athlete of the Year by the Omaha World-Herald and
other newspapers, he signed with the University of Nebraska Cornhuskers
to continue his career. His storied relationship with head coach Joe Cipriano
would keep Hare at the center of attention while with the Huskers. Hare
eventually would leave school early -- but not before defeating a #1 ranked
Michigan Wolverines team, led by Cazzie Russell, with a buzzer-beating,
over the head, backwards shot.
After leaving NU, Hare was
literally a basketball 'globetrotter,' playing as an amateur and professionally
around the United States, Canada, and Mexico... with teams such as the
Phoenix Suns, LA Lakers, Harlem Clowns, Harlem Globetrotters, Puebla Angels,
and many more.

downs of Fred Hare's basketball career, and life, in his new book -- and
